International Master Double Degree Program in Environmental Engineering (spec. MODERN ENGINEERING IN WATER MANAGEMENT) between
Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) and Kumasi Technical University (KsTU)

 

The Program is a joint initiative of two Universities supported by funding from the Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange (NAWA) in a frame of the KATAMARAN (POKAZ-Kumasi) Project. This will allow the creation of a unique international program that combines lectures organized in Poland and Ghana. Two universities organize the MSc program in three semesters. Courses offered in the first and second semesters are organized in Poland, while the third semester is organized in Ghana. The program consists of lectures, seminars, workshops, lab works and field campaigns conducted in partner countries: Poland and Ghana.

Number of places available:

The project involves up to 15 students (6 recruited by SGGW and 9 recruited by KsTU).

Except for obligatory and elective courses, in the scope of the Project, students can participate in:

 All the students:

  • intercultural and interpersonal workshop and intercultural excursion in Poland (Krakow and Wieliczka Mine) and Ghana (Akosombo Dam and Lake Volta; Accra and Cape Coast),
  • field research module 1 – Temperate climate. Drought and wetlands in Poland (Western Carpatian -Tatra Mountains Natrional Park, lowland mires and dunes in Kampinoski National Park),
  • field research module 2 – Western African Climate Zones and Water Management in Ghana (Mole National Park, Kakum National Park),
  • certified UAV Pilot and operator training,
  • drone data collection and analysis in practice.

Students recruited by SGGW:

  • professional English language course,
  • 3-month student internship to Ghana fully paid by NAWA (3rd semester).

Ghanian students recruited by KsTU::

  • 10-month student internship to Poland fully paid by NAWA (1st and 2nd semesters).

 

The study starts on 1 October 2025. The studies aim to offer students holistic and interdisciplinary water management and environmental engineering knowledge. Studies are focused on both technical and ecological aspects of the environment, emphasizing the role of humans in shaping sustainable landscapes and ecosystems.

In particular, students gain comprehensive knowledge of the integral approach to water management in the era of environmental droughts and floods caused by climate change,  including theoretical and practical innovative analytical solutions, such as hydrological modeling, spatial analysis and remote sensing, direct field measurements, and environmental monitoring using UAVs.    

 

After completing our study program, you will be awarded:

  • diploma conferring: the title of magister inżynier in Environmental Engineering, specializing in “Modern Engineering in Water Management”, issued by the SGGW,
  • diploma conferring the title of Master of Technology in Water and Environmental Engineering, issued by KsTU.
